Golf

Scotland is world renowned as the home of golf, and although the exact origins of the game are much debated, it is without question that it's roots are planted firmly in Scottish soil.  It was the Scots who created the structures of the game as we know it today.

No country in the world offers better golfing facilities than Scotland.  We are very fortunate to have many wonderful courses near us.   The courses vary from small friendly island courses with magnificent views to very old traditional championship links.

The following 3 superb golf courses are within 15 minutes from The Foresters House

Gourock Golf Course:-

The course boasts spectacular views over the River Clyde and Argyllshire Hills. A striking opening par 5 uphill is matched by the par 5 dogleg 8th hole.  The 9th hole is a good par 4 down to the clubhouse with a magnificent view. The second nine opens with a short par 4 over a gully to a raised green and finishes with a spectacular par 4 dogleg left from a raised tee - arguably one of the best finishing holes in the country.

Greenock Golf Course:-

An 18 hole par 68 course, and a 9 hole short course, located overlooking the Firth of Clyde.  These JAMES BRAID designed parkland courses, offer golfers, of all abilities, a fair test of golf whilst you enjoy the magnificent views over the River Clyde and Dunoon.  Each course is carefully maintained and deeply satisfying in its own special way. The elevated site of the clubhouse provides magnificient views across the Firth of Clyde and the Argyllshire Hills beyond. 

Skelmorlie Golf Club:-

A long established 18 hole golf course situated on the gentle slopes overlooking the villages of Skelmorlie & Wemyss Bay on the West Coast of Scotland Every year hundreds of visitors are made most welcome at Skelmorlie Golf Club. A short but tricky course where good positional play will do well. An ideal course for a day ticket with rounds taking just over three hours for a three ball.
